Strategy

Hacker is a very unique unit, high-risk, high-reward unit. If it can hack a tanky, high-value enemy unit, it can instantly turn the tide of an entire battle. However, it cannot target air and its attack has a long cooldown, making it especially weak against light units. If the hacker dies or its target leaves its range before the hacking is complete, the hacker has accomplished nothing with its time. Because the hacker is fragile and useless vs chaff, it needs to be paired with heavy chaff clear and often uses Range Enhancement to stay safely behind its team. Late in the game, Barrier provides significant utility and tankiness to the hacker’s team, while Enhanced Control significantly increases the value of each successful hack. The hacking process can sometimes be sped up with Electromagnetic Interference by temporarily disabling tank techs such as Assault mode on Marksman. This leaves Multi Control, which is a niche tech that is used against enemy boards without large units.
