Typhon Aggro

Typhon Aggro

Guide by belief

Typhoon is a unit exceptionally well-suited for offensive play. In the mid-game, its high mobility allows you to exhaust the opponent and firmly control the pace of the battle. Once you gain an advantage, Typhoon’s strong scaling potential makes it a formidable headache for the enemy.

  • Barrier: The most versatile tech for the unit. Shields provide cover for Crawlers, disrupting the enemy’s ability to clear chaff efficiently. This tires out the enemy’s damage-dealing units and significantly improves Typhoon’s survivability.

  • Tracking Missile: Essential in situations where trading tower becomes necessary. It allows Typhoon to weaken enemy forces from a distance after towers have been destroyed.

  • Mechanical Rage: Effectively increases Typhoon’s damage output. In head-to-head engagements, it can be taken as the first tech to boost offense.

  • Aerial Specialization: Highly useful when the enemy relies heavily on air units as their main force.

This composition can be forced if you start with Typhoon Specialist, Supply Specialist, or Quick Supply Specialist—or any economic specialist that supports early investment. Alternatively, you can transition into Typhoon if you receive it as a reinforcement unit during the match. This build performs particularly well against compositions centered on Tarantulas or Fire Badgers.

The best opening for a Typhoon composition is one that includes Crawlers as a base unit, as Typhoon will later serve as your primary chaff clear. Other 100-supply base units may waste deployment slots.

Choose a side (left/right) to focus your attack and unlock Field Recovery to sell the turret on that side. If your starting 200-supply unit is a chaff clearer (e.g., Tarantula) or a unit with weak offensive pressure (e.g., Tank), consider selling it on rounds 2–3 to afford Typhoons.

Early on, Typhoons are weak without tech. Use fast early-game units like Phoenix to draw the enemy’s attention and buy time for your Typhoons to come online. Establish a steady Crawler chaff chain and aim to have 4 squads of Typhoons with one tech and a Crawler chain by round 4, when Typhoon reinforcements typically arrive. Choose your first Typhoon tech based on the situation:

  • Mechanical Rage or Barrier for close-range confrontations.

  • Tracking Missile or Barrier for hit-and-run or defensive play.

In the mid-game, leverage Typhoon’s high mobility and strong cleanup potential. Use tactics like switching sides (attacking the opposite flank of your initial focus),

Mobile Beacon repositioning, and deploying units in flank zones to break through.

During reinforcement rounds, consider deploying level 2 Typhoons along with other reinforcement units to attack the opposite flank, pulling enemy forces away. Then, use Mobile Beacon to reposition your army to the main front, creating a numbers advantage.

By this stage, Typhoons should have at least their second tech. Consider investing in Subterranean Blitz or Loose Formation for your Crawlers.

If the game progresses smoothly and your Typhoons are well-developed, they can melt through almost anything with Mechanical Rage or Tracking Missile, especially if paired with attack-boosting items.

If you’re blocked in the late game by high-HP tanks from reinforcements, transition into high-damage siege units like Overlord or Melting Point.
