Mountain Firebadger Defense

Mountain Firebadger Defense

Guide by Habsburg

Mountain is the most formidable ground Titan unit, and its synergy with Fire Badger creates a potent defensive composition. Given its high unlock cost (350) and deployment price (800), careful early-game management and strategic tech choices are essential when building around Mountain as your core unit.

  - Range Enhancement: Priority tech to ensure efficient chaff clearing regardless of enemy response.

  - Napalm: Enhances sustained chaff-clearing power and area denial.

  - Range Enhancement: Essential for engaging ground units like Sabertooths and Fortresses; also needed against Melting Points when coupled with chaff superiority.

  - Saturation Bombardment: Recommended against enemy War Factories or opposing Mountains, or when Mountain’s level is ahead.

  - Anti-Aircraft Ammunition: Counters Abyss, Overlords, or Raidens. If not committed to Mountain, switching to Melting Point may be better. Otherwise, engage with Mountain’s anti-air while maintaining chaff advantage.

  - Jump Drive: Provides flexible siege power and flanking potential when Mountain numbers are insufficient.

  - Electromagnetic Shot: Counters Melting Points with Energy Absorption.

  • Opening Units: Prioritize Fire Badger starts, supported by Crawlers, Fangs, or Marksmen. Avoid Void Eye openings due to vulnerability to Raiden. If Fire Badger is unavailable, opt for Crawler or Marksmen starts (Fang is acceptable; avoid Void Eye, Hound, Arclight). Other chaff clearers like Arclight, Hound, Mustang, or Tarantula synergize less effectively with Mountain.

  • Specialists: Prioritize Fire Badger Specialist, Supply Specialist, Cost Control Specialist, or Giant Specialist. Secondary choices include Rhino Specialist or Typhoon Specialist for economic support. Avoid Elite Specialist or Aerial Specialist.

  • Strategy: Best played defensively with a Fire Badger opening. Mountain becomes dominant post-deployment, countering most aggressive plays, especially ground-focused compositions.

  1. Unlock Field Recovery and sell the Rapid-Fire Cannon

  2. Position Fire Badgers in front of towers; place Crawlers and Marksmen behind towers.

  3. Sell the Anti-Armor Cannon on Round 2 for additional economy.

  4. Assess enemy deployment:    - If enemy is aggressive (playing near midline): Deploy two Phoenixes aggressively in areas lacking anti-air (e.g., behind enemy towers). On Round 3, upgrade Phoenix with Jump Drive, reposition to your backline, and use Sticky Oil Bomb on enemy chaff clusters.

  - If sellable units exist: save 200 supply on Round 3, sell a 200/300 unit on Round 4 to afford Mountain.

  - Otherwise: save 400 supply on Round 3.

  - If sellable units exist: sell a 200/300 unit to afford Mountain.

  - Otherwise: save 200 supply on Round 4.

Final Composition Example: Image: Defensive Mountain + Fire Badger formation with supporting Phoenix and chaff.

  • Against Acid Blast Scorpions or Ignite Vulcans: Add Farseer with Photon Emission. Compete via unit levels.

  • Against Wasps: Deploy Ranged Mustangs (backline) or Ranged Wraiths (frontline with Crawler cover).

  • General: Maintain chaff advantage to protect Mountain and Fire Badgers.
