Fangs Aggro

Fangs Aggro

Guide by FengFeng

As a classic composition dating back to the closed beta, Fang excels when paired with Steel Ball and Fortress. It focuses on early-game scaling, then overwhelms the opponent in the mid-to-late game with sheer numbers. In the late game, a high-level, massed, triple-teched Fang army can handle and melt through almost any opposition.

  • Range Enhancement: The first tech in about 90% of games. Range means striking first and surviving longer—especially critical for the naturally short-ranged Fang. The +40 meters is vital.

  • Armor-Piercing Bullets: After its cost reduction, this has become the second-priority tech due to its excellent value. In direct, head-on clashes, it can even take precedence over Range Enhancement.

  • Mechanical Rage: Increases Fang’s attack speed and movement speed—a straightforward numerical boost. Previously the second priority, it now slightly falls behind Armor-Piercing Bullets in value after the latter’s price reduction. However, in delayed or flanking formations, Mechanical Rage remains higher priority.

  • Portable Shield: The first tech when using Fang as chaff. In a Fang-focused offensive composition, its high cost usually makes it a late-game luxury pick—only taken when resources are abundant. When combined with already-leveled Fangs, it significantly boosts their survivability.

  • Armor Enhancement: The top-choice tech for units like Steel Ball, Rhino, Sledgehammer, and Phantom Ray that can carry it. It greatly helps your Fangs absorb fire from their natural counters and provides a safe space for them to deal damage.

The Fang offensive is not a universal composition. Early-game Fangs are fragile without tech and levels, so accurately assessing both players’ opening compositions is crucial. It is generally recommended to start with 3 packs of Fangs, paired with a Steel Ball, focusing your attack on one flank. Against Mustang or Tarantula openings, forcing a Fang offensive is usually not advised.

One recommended opening deployment

To master the Fang offensive, you must know its favorable and unfavorable matchups.

  • Weak Against: Crawler, Tarantula, Vulcan, Fire Badger

  • Even Matchup: Mustang, Arclight, Wraith

  • Strong Against: All units not listed above

  • Best Synergies: Steel Ball, Fortress, Rhino, Phantom Ray, Hacker

Choose a flank to attack. Prioritize Fang tech—usually Range Enhancement first, followed by Armor-Piercing Bullets. Level your Fangs as soon as possible. If facing large numbers of Crawlers or Tanks (Sledgehammers), supplement with Arclights or Void Eyes for additional early damage and utility.

Adapt to enemy counters with the following common solutions:

  • Vs. Mustang / Fire Badger: Use Armor Enhancement Steel Balls or Phantom Rays.

  • Vs. Vulcan: Deploy Barrier Fortresses.

  • Vs. Tarantula: Add Barrier Hackers.

Ensure you use all deployment slots each round to maintain pressure.

A fully leveled and teched Fang army becomes nearly unstoppable. With ample supplies in the late game, you can:

  • Reinforce your frontline with tanks like Sandworm or Mountain.

  • Add protective units such as Barrier Fortresses.

  • Include support units like Fire Extinguisher Hounds to clear hazards.

Simply build according to your composition’s needs.
